Our Board of Directors

The Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation is governed by an all-volunteer Board of Directors, selected for demonstrating a high level of commitment to the Tahoe community and a personal involvement in community engagement.

Ron Alling

Board Chair
Mr. Alling is licensed to practice law in Nevada and California, and is a founding member of Alling & Jillson, a six attorney law firm with offices on Kingsbury Grade. Ron primarily practices in the areas of estate, business succession and charitable planning, probate and trust administration along with real estate transactions and also counsels clients in gaming and corporate matters. As a very active member of the community, Ron serves on numerous boards, including Douglas County Sheriff’s Advisory Council, Lake Tahoe Community College Foundation and is a past President of the Tahoe-Douglas Chamber of Commerce.

Kevin Hameister

Treasurer
Kevin graduated from California State University, San Marcos with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with an emphasis in Accounting. He began his professional career at a public accounting firm specializing in taxation for real estate based entrepreneurs and their closely held companies. After four years of tax compliance and planning services, he left the firm to serve as the controller for a commercial real estate owner and developer. He relocated to Incline Village in July of 2012 to join the Ashley Quinn team. He is currently licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in California and Nevada. Kevin is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Kevin is married, has boy-girl twins and lives in Incline Village. He is passionate about the local area and the outdoor activities it has to offer.

Aimee LaFayette

Secretary
Community Impact Committee Chair
Ms. LaFayette was born and raised in Incline Village. She graduated from the University of Puget Sound (BA Psychology) in 2003, and the University of Nevada, Reno (MA Anthropology/Certificate in Gender, Race, and Identity) in 2011. Aimee is currently enrolled in the Doctoral Program of Anthropology at the University of Nevada, Reno, where her research interests include violence; gender and women’s studies; immigration; transnationalism and globalization; Mexico and U.S. West. Additionally, she helps operate a local family business, Franktown Meadows Equestrian Facility, where she coordinates and manages all events, competitions, and fundraisers, including the annual Franktown Meadows Hunter Derby, held at the facility. Aimee has worked with many local nonprofits as the AmeriCorps Program Director for the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation, AmeriCorps volunteer for Tahoe Safe Alliance, and now as the Parasol Tahoe Community Foundation’s Program Committee Chair. She also currently serves on the board of Sierra Nevada Horse Show Association. Aimee is an avid equestrian who regularly competes in regional and national hunter/jumper horse show competitions.

Janice Charley

Governance
Janice Charley is an experienced financial executive who has served in auditing, operational and financial roles for more than three decades. Ms. Charley is a former corporate Board Director and Chief Financial Officer, with experience in B2B technology, healthcare, and venture capital sectors. She brings a distinctive combination of strategic thinking and organizational skills from multi-national operational experience. She has collaborated with executive teams to navigate pivotal company, product, and financial transitions in both high-growth and turnaround environments. Throughout her career, Ms. Charley has maintained positions on not-for-profit boards such as Girl Scouts, National Charity League, and Financial Executives International. Ms. Charley graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo in Accounting, has an MBA from Santa Clara University, and is a CPA. She is certified in Corporate Board Readiness from Silicon Valley Executive Center.

David Hardie

Board Member (Past Chair)
Mr. Hardie resides in Incline Village, NV where he has been the Chairman and CEO of Hallador Investment Advisors, Inc. since 2004. Prior to forming Hallador Investment Advisors, Mr. Hardie was the President of Hallador, Inc., a financial services firm in Sacramento, California from 1974 to 2002. He is a 1974 graduate of California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo (BBA Finance/Accounting) and Harvard University, OPM/Business in 1990, and a licensed stock broker with Western International Securities, Inc. and the Chairman/Founder of Hallador Petroleum Company (HNRG), a NASD listed company.

Mark Holmlund

Board Member
Mr. Holmlund has owned a residence in Glenbrook since 2013. In 2019 he and his wife, Candise, became full-time Nevada residents. Together they own Alaethes Wealth, LLC, a Nevada-domiciled, SEC-registered Registered Investment Advisor. Mr. Holmlund previously worked for Merrill Lynch in Los Angeles and Daiwa Securities in San Diego selling fixed income securities to institutional investors. Subsequently he worked for over 17 years for Pacific Life Insurance Company in Newport Beach California. He retired from Pacific Life at the end of 2010 as chief investment officer. He has previously served as chairman of the Rancho Santa Fe Foundation, a community foundation in North County, San Diego, and on the board of Sharp Healthcare in San Diego, also serving on the finance and investment committees. Mr. Holmlund is a 1983 graduate of Willamette University (BA Economics, magna cum laude) and earned his MBA from UCLA’s Anderson School of Management in 1985. in 2019, he graduated from Westminster Seminary of California with an MA in Historical Theology. He and his wife also own homes in Rancho Santa Fe and Las Vegas. They have two sons, Brandon, and Cole.

John J. McLaughlin

Audit Committee Chair
John J. McLaughlin is President/CEO for Edgewood Companies. John is a CPA with over thirty years of experience in the hotel, casino and entertainment industry. Prior to joining Edgewood Companies, John was CFO for Penn National’s newly developed Hollywood Casino Toledo and served on the Board of BLB Worldwide Holdings, Inc. as Chairman of the Audit Committee. John has served as a Corporate Board of Director, CEO and CFO of both public and private multi jurisdictional Hotel/Casino companies. In addition, during the economic downturn John formed a consulting company and provided strategic consulting services for commercial/investment banks and private investment funds related to impaired investments in the Hotel/Casino industry.

Aaron Moore

Investment Committee Chair
Mr. Moore has spent his career as a developer of analytical software. For 13 years, he led technology as the CTO and a board member of Zephyr Associates, a pioneering vendor of style, risk and performance analysis software for the investment management industry. His responsibilities included building the technical teams, designing and managing the development of Zephyr's flagship product, StyleADVISOR, and overseeing the evolution of all of Zephyr's product roadmaps. In 2007, Aaron played a key role in facilitating the sale and transition of Zephyr Associates to new ownership. Prior to Zephyr Associates, Aaron launched Regress, a regression analysis software package that has been site licensed by many leading business schools. Aaron also serves as a regular guest speaker in the Investment Modeling course at the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Aaron studied Biochemistry at U.C. Santa Barbara and holds a master’s degree from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was a Sloan Fellow.

Alvaro Pascotto

Board Member
Mr. Pascotto is a private investor and a lawyer. Mr. Pascotto has been involved in numerous investments, both in Italy and in the U.S., and he serves as a general partner of various family-related partnerships. He is a founder of Kairos Partners SGR S.P.A., an independent, Italian-based asset manager, and served on the Board of Directors of Kairos’ flagship hedge fund. As an attorney, Mr. Pascotto is acknowledged as an international expert in business aviation, whose clients include many Fortune 500 companies and well-known entertainment and business personalities. He was of counsel to Irell & Manella LLP and to Morrison & Foerster LLP. He received his J.D. from the University of Rome, is a member of the State Bar of California, and is also admitted to the Italian Bar. Mr. Pascotto is a member of the Tax Committee of the National Business Aviation Association, Inc. (NBAA), has lectured at a variety of aviation and tax seminars, and publishes articles on a regular basis. An FAA-licensed pilot himself, he is a co-founder and investor of XOJET, Inc. and serves on its Board of Directors.

Bill Watson

Board Member
Mr. Watson resides at Lake Tahoe where he is the Chief Executive and Curator for the Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society and operator of the George Whittell Estate. Before retiring in 2003, Mr. Watson was the President and Founder of Casino Marketplace where he invented much of the computer technology casinos use to promote their business and operate their games. Mr. Watson is also Managing Director of Foundation 36, a public charity Bill and his former casino colleagues formed to preserve and protect Nevada’s natural, cultural, and historic treasures. In 2008, Mr. Watson assumed the lead role in the Thunderbird Lodge Preservation Society’s successful $5 million capital campaign to save Nevada’s only historical house museum estate at Lake Tahoe from being demolished.

Kendra Wong

Board Member
Kendra Wong is currently the Principal Accounting Officer at LENSAR, Inc. Prior to joining LENSAR, she served as the Assistant Corporate Controller, Subsidiary Operations for PDL BioPharma, Inc., at the time, the only publicly-company located in Incline Village, and LENSAR’s former parent company. Prior to PDL, Kendra served as a finance and accounting consultant for pharmaceutical companies, primarily based in Silicon Valley. Kendra began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP providing and business advisory services, primarily in the life science and venture capital industries. She is a Certified Public Accountant and an Associate Professor Emeritus at University of Nevada, Reno at Lake Tahoe, formerly Sierra Nevada University. Kendra received a B.S. in Managerial Economics from the University of California, Davis and an M.B.A. from Arizona State University.
